During a shutdown of the Leeds Incinerator several Electro-Magmeters were found to be faulty, replacement meters were to take from 3 weeks to 3 months, so with a downtime cost of £8,000 per day a quick, cost effective and accurate solution was sought. With temperatures of up to 252ºC, it would be a tricky application, using existing wiring (24v and 4-20mA), a Portable Ultrasonic Flow meter with C-TS-20-H-B-00-0 transducers was fitted and outputs calibrated to ensure signals were being sent back to the Control room accurately and the rest is data.
